Vintage Fiat 500 begins to be restored with Graphene paints

The new GRAFY-TECH™ line produced by Marchetti Tech, a high-tech paint manufacturer based in Milan

On July 4, 1957, the Fiat 500 was presented, designed by Dante Giacosa and also known as the “New” 500 because it was intended to replace the pre-war 500 “Topolino”.

The Fiat 500 represented the conclusion of the 110 project and it was 297 cm long, 132 cm wide and 133 cm high, while the wheelbase measured 184 cm. Features included 12-inch tires combined with cream-colored rims, a canvas roof with a celluloid rear window and a passenger compartment configured according to the 2+2 scheme. The “beating heart” was the 13 HP in-line twin-cylinder 500 engine, arranged longitudinally at the rear, with overhead valves and air-cooled.

Furthermore, it was the object of the attention of the tuner Karl Abarth, who created the track version for the conquest of the record on the circuit of Monza, thanks to the processing of 26 HP of power and 118 km/h of top speed.

In eighteen years of commercial life, the Fiat 500 has been produced in approximately 3.678.000 units, of which 181.036 as the “New” 500 and about 327.000 with the Giardiniera body shop. The production of the 500 reached an all-time high in 1970, with 380.172 units.

No one would have imagined that it would remain an iconic car and would represent an Italian historical period in the world. Everyone loves Fiat 500, it has outlived itself, today together with the Colosseum, the Tower of Pisa and the gondolas, it represents Made in Italy in the world.

Today, many Fiat 500 are masterfully restored by gold-handed craftsmen, who have the ability to return a historic car to customers. Despite the efforts, however, many Fiat 500 rust returns, damaging them irreversibly.

Marchetti Tech Srl has created a line called GRAFY-CAR™ with which it is possible to treat the bodywork of Fiat 500 and other vintage cars. The particularity of the GRAFY-TECH™ line, depicted with a funny mascot, contains Graphene, technology completion to make Fiat 500 legendary.
